One of the projects we're most often asked about from our portfolio is a Starlink adapter mount, a small part solving a very real, very local problem: fitting a Starlink dish to a mounting point it wasn't originally designed for. The client came to us with a ready-to-print file; our part in the job was choosing the right material and printing it to spec, not designing the mount itself.
The Brief
The client needed a custom mount to adapt a Starlink dish to a specific fixing point, printed from their own file. Because the part would sit outdoors permanently, exposed to Harare's sun and seasonal rain, material choice was as important as getting the geometry right.
The Material Call
As covered in our material guide, PETG is our default recommendation for anything that lives outside, thanks to its UV and moisture resistance compared to PLA. That made it the natural choice for an outdoor mount like this one, where the part needed to hold up to weather over the long term rather than just look right on day one.
The Result
The finished mount was printed and ready within our standard turnaround, giving the client a durable, weather-ready fitting solving a real infrastructure need, without waiting on an imported bracket that may not have fit in the first place. It's a good example of what print-for-hire is best at: taking a file you already have and turning it into a functional part quickly, in the right material for the job.
